Get information on rebuilding and applying for development and septic system permits with a waived fee. A development permit is required for all repairs and new structures. A septic permit is required to repair or replace a septic system.

If you need help cleaning up damage from the July 4th Severe Weather, call 512-201-4814 or dial 211 to ask for help. We will connect you with volunteers from local relief organizations, community groups, and faith communities who may be able to assist with:

Safety While Cleaning Up

Flooding can leave behind various public safety hazards, such as mold, bacteria, and standing water that becomes breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

When you're cleaning up:

• Wear protective clothing and gear (rubber boots, waterproof gloves, and goggles)
• Avoid direct contact with floodwater especially if you have open wounds
• Wash hands often
• Wash hard surfaces with soap and water
• Throw away items that cannot be cleaned
• Don't touch wet electrical equipment

What to Do

As recommended by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Travis County residents who experienced damage are encouraged to:

• Document the damage by taking photos
• Make a list of damaged or lost items
• Save receipts for expenses for temporary housing and other cleanup efforts in order to aid with insurance claims and other aid programs

Dealing with Water Damage

• Remove standing water using pumps, wet vacs, or buckets when it's safe to do so
• Throw away soaked items that cannot be disinfected like mattresses, carpet, upholstered furniture
• Open windows and doors to ventilate
• Use fans and dehumidifiers

Trash Drop Off

If able, residents can also bring household trash to the 1431 Citizens Collection Center at 2625 Woodall Dr., Cedar Park, TX 78613. The facility is open Tuesday - Sunday, from 8 am - 4 pm. The fee waiver period has ended as of August 28, 2025. The cost to drop off household trash is $4.33 per cubic yard.

Materials NOT accepted: Business/commercial waste, Household hazardous waste, Recycling, Appliances, Large furniture, Mattresses, Organic waste (this includes animal carcasses and brush/woody debris), and Tires.

Dumpster for Sandy Creek Residents

Travis County has distributed large blue dumpsters throughout the Sandy Creek community with the purpose of disposing household trash. Furniture, appliances, yard waste, and storm debris are not allowed.

• Big Sandy Drive
• Round Mountain Road (ESD 1 Fire Station)
• Pecan Hollow

These new dumpsters are in addition to the dumpster already located on the north side of the Sandy Creek bridge.

Burn Ban Lifted

As of Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the burn ban has been lifted for flood-affected areas of Northwest Travis County.

The ban previously applied to Sandy Creek, Cow Creek, and other low-lying neighborhoods near creeks. Outdoor burning is now allowed in these communities without requiring a permit and site inspection.
