Pay in Full

Settle your annual Travis County property tax bill in one payment. Learn how to review your statement, choose a payment method, and confirm payment before the January 31 deadline.

Important to know

Eligibility

Every property owner with a tax bill is eligible to pay in full. No application or advance approval required.

Cost

No additional fees for most payment methods. Credit card and online payments carry a third-party processing fee, typically around 2.4% for card and $1.00 for e-check.

Timeline

Taxes are due by January 31 of each year. Payments made after this date accrue penalty and interest at rates that increase every month the bill remains unpaid.

Process step-by-step

  1. Check if you qualify for a tax break

Tax breaks, also known as exemptions, lower your property tax bill. You may qualify based on age, disability, veteran status, or other criteria. Apply for any exemptions you qualify for as early as possible; processing times vary.

  2. File an appraisal protest (optional)

Property taxes are based on the appraised value of your property. If you believe the appraised value is incorrect, you can file a protest with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) before the payment deadline.

  3. Receive and review your tax bill

Travis County property tax bills are mailed in October each year. You can also check your bill online by searching for your account using name, street address, account number, or six-digit billing number.

  4. Choose a payment method

Six payment methods are available: online, in person at any Tax Office location, by mail, by phone, by electronic funds transfer through your bank, or by dropping payment in a Tax Office drop box during business hours.

  5. Get proof of payment

Retain your receipt or confirmation number as proof of payment. After your bill is settled, you can request a tax certificate to prove your property tax payment status.
